Since the early 1960's Rod has enjoyed an active relationship with the CF both in and out of uniform. Because of this, he is able to understand and appreciate the culture - and function effectively within the military environment. Starting as a cadet in 1961, Rod was a member of the 180/20 Fd RCA Cadet Corps in Edmonton. In 1965, he joined the 20th Field Regiment where he went through the ranks and eventually took a commission in the early 1970's. During that time, he was 'called out' to the regular force (C Coy, 1 PPCLI) as the graphic artist for the Alberta Armed Forces Caravan under the command of a young Major John deChastelaine - who eventually became the Chief of the Defence Staff. At a Calgary Highlander's mess dinner in 1988, he again connected with Gen deChastelaine and disucssed the idea of the Armed Forces Pride Program - designed to make a serviceperson feel good about who they were and what they did for a living. From then until 1997, McLeod generated more than 1,500 hundred different designs for branches, corps, regiments, battalions, ships, squadrons and military establishments across the country. In late, 1997, embracing new and developing technologies, Rod went back to school (at age 50) to learn web site design and construction - and computer generated graphics. The scope of production expanded from imprinted and embroidered sportswear to the design and production of laser engraved granite, coins & medallions as well as award and presentation plaques. He has also expanded the companie's ability to design and produce decals, signs, banners, vehicle wraps and new concepts in interior design for the military.
