LESLIE R. BRYANT YOUNG - Marketing Manager - Central and Western Canada

Leslie has been associated with the Canadian Cadet Movement in one way or another since 1972 when she joined NLWC Jenny Wren in Calgary.  In 1974, when females were finally permitted to be sea, army and air cadets, she transferred to 22 RCSCC Undaunted and finished her cadet career there in 1976.  After a brief break to start university, Leslie returned to Undaunted in 1979 as a Civilian Instructor and was soon enrolled in what is now the Cadet Instructor Cadre.

She served for a total of 14 years as an officer with Undaunted, filling all of the officer billets, including 4 very active and successful years as Commanding Officer.  Since 1994, she has been on the Supplementary Reserve list at the rank of Lieutenant-Commander.  In the late 1990’s, she also served one year as an ACICO when that position was first brought into Prairie Region.

Leslie has never been far from the military and cadets thanks to a rich family tradition of service spanning all three elements.  Her son is currently an air cadet, and her husband is still very active with the Naval Reserve.

By profession, Leslie is an engineer with a background in oil refinery and gas process design, water treatment and environmental project management.  Her current volunteer activities include facilitating a cancer survivors’ support group, serving as secretary to the sponsoring committee of her son’s air cadet squadron, and chairing the organizing committee for Calgary’s Naval Centennial Ball which held on 23 October 2010.

With her broad background in things cadet and military, Leslie certainly understands the needs and interests of cadet units!

We are truly fortunate to have Leslie on our team. She will be managing all our cadet related projects for Sea, Army and Air Cadet squadrons throughout Canada - with the exception of Quebec.
